“Hello how may I help you today,” asked a friendly banker woman.
“Yes you may, I like to withdraw some money today please.” Said the friendly gentleman, wearing a red and white flannel shirt, blue jeans and a black beanie.
“Sure, not a problem may I have your account number please?”
“Ah yes, of course how could I forget.” Reaching into his back pocket, the gentleman realizes that he doesn’t have his wallet.
“You know what, I just realized that I forgot it, is there a way I could give you my name and you find my account that way?”
“Sure sir, not a problem, May I have your name please?”
“Nobody.” He answered with a blank look upon his face.
“Sir?”
“Nobody.” He continued to state with a smile on his face.
With a confused look upon her face, the young banker woman looked around, and then looked back at the gentleman who was also looking around. Then staring at each other the woman started to nod her head, as to insinuate for the gentleman to repeat his name. Not understanding what the banker was doing the young gentleman also nodded his head toward her. This continues for a few moments.
“Sir, what…is…your…name?” She states slowly.
“No…bo…dy.” He responds imitating the woman.
“Sir it is going to very difficult for me to find your account if you don’t tell me your name, now please sir if you would be so kind, please tell me your name so I can help the other customers behind you.” By this time the young banker was quite frustrated.
“I don’t think you are understanding me, my name is Nobody, Nobody Brown.”
“Oh I see, I am so sorry sir,” returning back to her cheery attitude, “I thought you were trying antagonize me.” She replies with a smile that quickly returns to a frown.
“Not at all, I get that all the time.” Nobody responds in a sullen manner.
Walking out of the Bank Mr. Nobody, stops for a moment and looks around him, taking a deep breath in he signs and starts to walk toward the Zackary’s Pizza Parlor across the street.
The Girl
Sitting in a café restaurant very angry, and talking to herself, Dahlia, a young woman in her mid-twenties, sips on her tea and looks outside to the beautiful scenery of San Francisco. Though angry at the moment Dahlia is normally a calm and yet nice woman who normally lets people take advantage of her. On this particular day, Dahlia has had enough, not only did she find out that her boyfriend cheated on her with her own boss, but also that her ex will be taking over her job and she would soon be fired. Frustrated with her apple la mode, Dahlia drops the spoon on the table and calmly puts her hand on her forehead, rubbing her temples with her forefingers. Shaken, Dahlia pulls out a cigarette and starts to smoke.
“I am getting really tried… Tried of what? Tried of people taking advantage of me… I mean who in the world has the worst luck then me? Huh? Who does? No one Dahlia just you, Exactly that’s exactly what I mean, honestly who do you know, no whose life do you know consist of constant disappointment, your life, exactly my life.” Dahlia notices an older couple staring at her with dismay.
“Do you mind I’m talking here?” Pointing towards herself, “Now where was I, you were talking about Steven, Ahh yes, the ever pathetic annoying, son a bitch, my ex. What was I saying about him before I was so rudely disturbed?” Looking over to the older couple, who had returned to their food. “ You asswole!” She screams while slamming her fist down onto the table and taking a few puffs of her cigarette. “My Boss! Yes Dahlia, your boss,” she says in a whispery tone.
“Ma’am?” A young waitress with pigtails and braces, looking bewildered.
“How old are you?” Dahlia asked while staring at the waitress teeth.
“23, ahh ma’am…”
“Aren’t you a little old for pigtails and braces.” Dahlia interrupted.
“Umm ma’am could you please put out that cigarette and keep in down” the young waitress replied in a southern accent.
“Oh really don’t mind me, I’m schizophrenic.” She slightly twitched so that the woman would leave her alone. Pulling away from Dahlia, the young waitress surly but slowly turned toward to the older couple. Dahlia continued to smoke until she was done with her cigarette and left 20 dollars at the table. And then walking up to the younger couple, Dahlia speaks in a quicken manner.
“If I were you I’d watch him, he probably sleeping with your boss.” After standing there for a moment, Dahlia turns and walks out the restaurant with her head up high. The young and man and woman looked at each other for a second and started to laugh, they laughed so much that they started to tear up. And after sucking in a few breaths for air, the young woman looked at her loving partner.
“You wouldn’t cheat on me with my own boss.” The young woman said in a humorous tone. Pause. Looking back up to her boyfriend. “Would you?” The boyfriend shrugs in shoulders and looks back down at his meal.
The Friend
Dahlia cried herself to sleep that night, but the ring of her cell phone disturbed her, it was her best friend Shelia, reluctant to answer the phone Dahlia slowly but surly answered it.
“Hello?”
“What’s UP GIRL?” Yelled a very chipper Shelia.
“Why are you yelling?” said a much tried Dahlia, her voice was slightly rocky, since she had spent the majority of her day yelling to not only herself but also other people.
“Yelling? I ain’t yelling, its time for you to get off yo behind and get ready for the party, we are going to tonight.” Explained Sheila.
“I’m not going to any party Shelia, I have had a very rough day and I am not in the mood to socialize with any people, people meaning men.” Dahlia replied in a harsh tone.
“Woo Hoo, ya man dumped you, so? That shit happens to a bunch of bitch’s everyday, you going to this party, you promised you would, so now your going.” Shelia was an interesting woman; she had her own way of perceiving things, and one of those things were men, in her eyes men where like candy on a store shelf. There are many options and flavors for her to choose from, those that were not up to her standards she threw them away like they were expired. She didn’t care about their feelings; just as long as she got what she needed from them, she was fine. She had been dying to go to this party for about a month now, she was feeling a bit restless because she hadn’t been with a man for about…two months?
“Hoe? What a minute who you calling a -?”
“I’m in front of your apartment open the door.” Shelia demanded.
“Ahhhh…fine I’m coming.” Hanging up the phone, Dahlia ran down and opened the door. Shelia was wearing a sleeveless red dress that went down to her mid-thighs; the front of her dress had a low cut v-neck line that went down to her stomach reveling her diamond belly ring. The a-symmetrical dress reveled her smooth caramel legs; the outfit was then toped with a sexy pair of red stilettos by Manola Blanik. Her hair was braided down in conrolls, and her lips looked soft with a hint of deep red. Her smoky eyes were looking straight at Dahlia with horror.
“Girl you ain’t dressed, damn girl, you’re killin my entrance.” She said as she walked in rolling her eyes at Dahlia.
“You kinda called me at a bad time.” Dahlia said as she closed the door.
